Sacramento, California — Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) proudly announced today that the State Senate approved the 2019–2020 State Budget. The approved budget includes $5.5 million for sound walls along the 210 freeway in La Cañada Flintridge.  Portantino made the request on behalf of the city.

Sacramento, California – Today, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) honored Arlington Garden as the 25th State Senate District 2019 Non-Profit of the Year.  Leigh Talmo, Arlington Garden’s head gardener, flew to Sacramento to receive the award on behalf of Arlington Garden. Earlier this year, Senator Portantino held a 710 EIR press conference at the garden where the end of the 710 tunnel was formally announced.  Arlington Garden hopes to purchase land from Caltrans as state-owned properties are sold.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 521, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate. SB 521 provides a tax credit to property owners who enter into new contracts to rent their property to Section 8 voucher recipients. SB 521 is an attempt by Glendale and Senator Portantino to incentivize property owners to rent to more Section 8 applicants.  Recently, property owners in Pasadena stopped taking Section 8 vouchers due to adverse economic interests.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino’s (D–La Cañada Flintridge) SB 568 to address the problem of homelessness amongst college students passed the California State Senate. SB 568 would establish the College-Focused Rapid Rehousing Program, which seeks to provide housing options for homeless students.  It would also provide services to support homeless students as they transition into stable housing.
