Sacramento, California – Yesterday, SB 568, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the Assembly Higher Education Committee.  Glendale Community College’s Superintendent and President David Viar flew to Sacramento to offer testimony in support of the bill.  SB 568 would help the college offset revenue losses associated with closing on April 24. This date is important worldwide to the Armenian Community as it commemorates the Armenian Genocide.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 532 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the Assembly Housing Committee. Senator Portantino introduced SB 532 at the request from the City of Glendale. After the dissolution of Redevelopment Agencies (RDAs), Glendale was left with $27 million dollars in bond proceeds but precluded from using these funds for housing.  SB 532 will give Glendale the ability to use these bond funds exclusively for affordable housing.

Sacramento, California – At the request of Glendale Community College, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) introduced legislation to help the college offset revenue losses associated with closing on April 24th.  This date is important to the Armenian community as it commemorates the Armenian Genocide where 1.5 million Armenians were killed. The Glendale Unified School District and Glendale Community College close on this day.

Sacramento, California — Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) is pleased that the State Senate passed the 2019–2020 balanced, on time and fiscally responsible state budget, today.  He also celebrated two important funding proposals he initiated through SB 217 and SB 568 which were included in the budget.

Sacramento, California — Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) is pleased to announce that his budget requests for the City of Pasadena have been approved.  The 2019–2020 State Budget includes $3.5 million for the Arroyo Seco Watershed Restoration Project from Prop 68 and $40.7 million from Prop 51 for Pasadena City College’s Armen Sarafian Building.
