Sacramento, California – Today, SB 532, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), passed the Senate Government and Finance Committee. Senator Portantino introduced SB 532 at the request of the City of Glendale, to help free up $27 million dollars of dormant Redevelopment bonds for use to build affordable housing.  Mayor Ara Najarian and Director of Community Development Philip Lanzafame flew to Sacramento to offer testimony on behalf of the effort.

Sacramento, California–Today, SB 217, SB 428, SB 568, and SB 729 all passed the Senate Education Committee, the of the bills are authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge).  SB 217 is jointly authored with Senator Richard Roth and SB 428 is jointly authored with Senator Richard Pan.

Sacramento, California – Today, the Senate Transportation Committee passed SB 7, the State Highway Route 710 bill, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge). The bill would allow the surplus of the non-profit properties to be purchased at their current use value. In addition, SB 7 would prohibit Caltrans from implementing a tunnel surface freeway or expressway for Route 710 between Route 10 and Route 210 and it lays the foundation for the state to return surplus freeway stubs back to local cities in the freeway corridor.

Sacramento, California–Today, the Senate Public Safety Committee passed SB 61, SB 172, and SB 376 all authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge). The three bills further establish Portantino’s leadership as one of California’s sensible gun control advocates and enhance public safety.

Sacramento, California–Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) introduced SB 729 to increase the base funding level for K-12 school districts by proposing to raise the Local Control Funding Formula Base by 5.16%.  SB 729 seeks to achieve a $1 billion dollar increase by using a cost of living adjustment formula.
