Sacramento, California – This week, SB 61, SB 172, and SB 376 all authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate. The three bills further establish Portantino’s leadership as one of California’s strongest sensible gun control advocates.  His efforts over the past decade have significantly improved California’s gun control efforts and have enhance public safety in neighborhoods and main streets across our state.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 7, authored by Senator Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate. SB 7 will allow the purchase of surplus properties at their current value by non-profit tenants and prohibit Caltrans from implementing a tunnel surface freeway for Route 710 between Route 10 and Route 210. The bill lays the foundation for the state to return surplus freeway stubs back to local cities in the freeway corridor.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 302 authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate. The bill passed on consent with unanimous support. SB 302 will reestablish a trade office between California and Armenia.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 532 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate. Senator Portantino introduced SB 532 at the request from the City of Glendale.  After the dissolution of Redevelopment Agencies (RDAs), Glendale was left with $27 million dollars in bond proceeds but precluded from using these funds for housing.  SB 532 will give Glendale the ability to use these bond funds exclusively for affordable housing.

Sacramento, California – Today, SB 328, authored by Senator Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Senate.  

SB 328 solves the significant public health crisis of sleep-deprived teens by requiring high schools in California to start no earlier than 8:30 AM. SB 328 is sponsored by the California State PTA and has garnered strong support from medical professionals, law enforcement, and education advocates.
