Sacramento, California – Today Senate Bills 98, 234, 445, and 467 authored by  Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) passed the Senate Education Committee. The bills address enrollment based funding for K-12 schools, the rise in opioid-related deaths among our youth, language barriers for parents with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) by providing translation services, and breaking down additional educational barriers for undocumented students.

Pasadena, CA - In honor of Women’s History Month, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) hosted the 25th Senate District Women of Distinction Awards Reception on Sunday, March 12 in Pasadena. The Senator recognized 15 accomplished women from across the Senate District who have positively contributed to their communities and the State of California.  The honorees reside or work in Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Claremont, La Crescenta, Los Angeles, and La Verne and have exemplified and extended volunteerism, philanthropy, and leadership throughout all of the communities in our district.

Burbank, CA - Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) joined local Burbank community garden supporters, volunteers and city officials to celebrate the state allocation of $150,000 to the Los Angeles Community Gardens Council for two community gardens in the City of Burbank.  Senator Portantino successfully secured the funding from the 2022-2023 state budget after being introduced to Burbank’s community gardens by former Mayor Sharon Springer.
