Claremont, California – Yesterday, State Senator Anthony J. Portantino joined the Claremont Chamber of Commerce and the Feeling Groovy Wellness and Café to host a Business Walk in the Sprouts Shopping Center in Claremont. 

“What a great morning in Claremont.  The Chamber is doing a terrific work and I was happy to meet and share ideas with local small business owners”, commented Senator Portantino.

This past summer, I was able to enjoy one such extraordinary experience in the Office of California State Senator Anthony Portantino, along a fellow Pilibos Scholar, Kami Arabian. After putting together my resume and cover letter, and later being interviewed by the District Director, Talin Mangioglu and Intern Coordinator, Kim Evette, I was offered a summer internship in the Office of Senator Portantino. The internship program began with a welcoming and well-coordinated orientation, where we met the rest of the staff and interns.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) closed out the 2018 legislative session with a string of legislative successes and budget accomplishments.  He sent 18 bills to Governor Brown for action, having 15 signed into law.  As the Chair of Education Budget Sub-Committee 1 on Education Finance, he also achieved significant success through the adoption of the 2018-2019 State Budget. In addition, he authored 4 Resolutions that passed and were chaptered into the legislative record.

The event will be held with participating businesses such as Sylvan Learning Center, Claremont School of Music, Golden State Water Company Co, Feeling Groovy Wellness & Cafe. There will be business owners and community leaders to hear concerns and learn how he can best support local small businesses in his district.

Sacramento, California – Governor Jerry Brown recently signed SB 1422 and SB 1263 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge.  These bills will help increase the knowledge of the risks of micro plastic materials and microfibers on the marine environment and in drinking water.  Micro plastics pose a potential threat to the public’s health as the levels of micro plastics in drinking water are not currently monitored and they are increasingly present in our ocean water.
