The California Armenian Legislative Caucus is holding two scholarship contests for the 2022 commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. California high school students in 9th through 12th grade are invited to participate in an essay contest and/or a visual arts contest to increase greater awareness of the Armenian Genocide on its anniversary.

Glendale, California - California State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada) recently returned from an emotional trip to Artsakh, during which he toured the countryside and broke bread with heroes. It is believed that this is the first time a state or federal elected official has visited the region since the end of the 44-day war.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced this week that his request for $1.8 million for the Armenian American Museum was approved by the Legislature.  The highly anticipated landmark, which commenced construction in July, is set to be the first cultural center of its kind in California.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) met with leaders of the Armenian American community in the San Francisco Bay Area earlier this week and toured St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Cultural Center, which was recently the site of an arson attack and hate crimes.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Canada Flintridge) announced today that he will participate in the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony with the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and Impact Hub Armenian Social Innovation Development Foundation (Impact Hub Yerevan) on June 1, 2021 to establish a Trade and Services Desk in Armenia
