Sacramento, California – As the first year of the 2017–18 Legislative session comes to an end, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) sent seven bills to the Governor’s desk, passed several important Senate resolutions and co-authored historic parks bond and Veterans housing initiatives. Senator Portantino continued his focus on education, public safety, mental health, housing, and parks and open space.

Sacramento, California  Today, the California State Senate passed SB 400 by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D – La Cañada Flintridge, which requires Caltrans to freeze the rent for SR 710 corridor tenants who participate in the “Affordable Rent Program.”  Decades ago, Caltrans purchased these homes to pave the way for the 710 freeway.

Sacramento, Calif. – SB 478, authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), passed the California State Legislature with bipartisan support and is heading to the Governor’s desk.

Sacramento, CA – This week, Senate Bill 565, by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), was signed and chaptered into law by Governor Brown. SB 565 requires a mental health facility, prior to a certification review hearing, to make reasonable attempts to notify family members or any other person designated by the patient of the exact time and place of the hearing at least 36 hours prior to the certification review hearing.

Sacramento, CA:  State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (DLa Cañada Flintridge) is proud to announce that SJR 8, a Senate Joint Resolution to name a portion of the 134 freeway in Los Angeles County the President Barack H. Obama Freeway, has passed both the State Senate and the State Assembly.  As a result, the 134 freeway from the 2 freeway to the 210 Freeway interchange will be named in honor of our 44th President.
