Sacramento, CA- As the legislative session comes to a close, SB 1100 and SB 1177  authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed both the Senate and Assembly and are headed to the Governor’s desk. The actions further establish Portantino’s legacy as one of California’s leaders for sensible gun control.  SB 1100 raises the age for all gun purchases to 21 after the recent tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School.  SB 1177 prohibits the purchase of more than one long gun a month.

Sacramento, California – The California State Legislature has voted to pass SB 1126 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge). The bill will include the Arroyo Seco Tributary into the Upper Los Angeles River and Tributaries Working Group. SB 1126 contains an urgency clause which would make it effective on the day it garners a signature from Governor Brown.  Non-urgency bills do not become law until January 1st.

Sacramento, California- SB 972 the suicide prevention legislation which is authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) passed the California State Legislature and is headed to the Governor’s Desk for his signature.  SB 972 requires public, charter, and private schools to print the National Suicide Prevention Hotline telephone number on all student identification cards for grades seven through college.

Sacramento, California- As the 2018 legislative session comes to a close, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D-La Canada Flintridge) moves forward with 15 bills that have cleared policy and fiscal committees. All are now before the California State Assembly for consideration.

Sacramento, California – Today, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) honored the Homenetmen on their 100th anniversity at the California State Capitol.   The Homenetmen leadership and their scouts were recognized on the floor of the State Senate with a resolution from Senators Anthony Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge), Senator Kevin De León (D- Los Angeles) and Senator Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita). Similar recognitions were also conducted on the Assembly floor by Assemblymember Nazarian.
