Senator Portantino Honors Sycamores as Nonprofit of the Year
Sacramento, California – This week Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) honored Sycamores as the Nonprofit of the Year for the 25th State Senate District. President/CEO Debra Manners and Chief Public Policy & Advocacy Officer Wendy Wang flew to Sacramento to attend the award luncheon and proudly represent the organization.
“I am honored to recognize the Sycamores and its terrific team for their compassion and dedication to the wellbeing of youth and families,” stated Senator Portantino. “Through behavioral health services, crisis outreach, homeless and housing support, residential services, foster care and adoption, and the family resource center, Sycamores has been serving our community with distinction for decades. This well-deserving organization delivers crucial programs and I am proud to have them doing so much in the 25th District.”
Each year, the California State Legislature celebrates Nonprofits Day in conjunction with the California Association of Nonprofits. Deserving nonprofits receive special public recognition during a ceremony in the State Capitol where they are honored for their exemplary community service.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by Senator Portantino for the services Sycamores provides across Southern California,” stated Debra Manners, Sycamores President and CEO. “For over 120 years, Sycamores has been dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, young adults, and families through our many behavioral health programs. This recognition highlights the importance of our work, which impacts over 18,000 lives annually through a range of services, including residential treatment, foster care and adoption, support for young adults facing homelessness, school-based mental health services, behavioral health services, and mobile crisis outreach.”
For over 120 years, Sycamores has been committed to helping children, families, and adults have a better life by providing help during some of the most challenging times in their life. The nonprofit organization provides care and support through an array of services in the child-welfare arena, providing innovative and effective programs through a network of locations throughout Southern California. Their highly effective behavioral health services impact over 18,000 lives annually.
