Senator Anthony Portantino Honors Pasadena Village with Senate Resolution on National Village Day

Pasadena, CA Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D-Burbank) was joined by community leaders and Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo in honoring Pasadena Village for serving aging adults and creating a vibrant community for those wishing to live independently. The Senate Resolution was presented to Pasadena Village Board President Sue Kujawa during a ceremony at Pasadena City Hall.

“On National Village Day, I wanted to take the opportunity to honor a wonderful organization whose mission is to assist and support aging adults,” stated Senator Portantino. “With this recognition, we celebrate over two decades of positive impact on the aging experience right here in Pasadena. It is inspiring to see these supportive human connections firsthand and I am proud to see the Village Movement continue to thrive in the 25th District.”

"Pasadena Village, along with nearly 50 other villages across California, connect over 5,000 older Californians to the community, programming, and expertise they need to continue living in their own homes and communities," stated Carolyn Ross, Executive Director of Village Movement California. We are thankful to Senator Portantino for the recognition that villages help ensure California’s aging population has the support they need to age well.”

Pasadena Village is a nonprofit organization that was launched in 2012. It is a membership organization of adults over 55 whose mission is to foster vital independent living in a spirit of mutual support, enrichment, and inclusiveness. The Village model has now been adopted in 200 different villages and another 150 are in development across the country. Pasadena Village is also part of Village Movement California.
