Senator Portantino’s Statement Condemning Azerbaijan’s Attack on Artsakh

Glendale, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) released the following statement regarding Azerbaijan’s brutal attack on Artsakh:

“Today the Armenian people should be celebrating their independence. Instead, they are facing genocide - a second Armenian Genocide. The brutal dictatorship of Azerbaijan - enabled and emboldened by nations around the world - continues to unleash unspeakable horrors on the people of Artsakh. Their goal is to erase any presence of Armenians in the region. Aliyev must be stopped and the Lachin corridor must be opened to ensure the safety and security of Artsakh. The United States must hold Azerbaijan accountable and immediately cut military aid. We cannot be complicit to a second Armenian Genocide. This is not a time for diplomatic empty words - it is time for swift action before it is too late.”
