Portantino Reappointed Chair of the State Senate Appropriations Committee

Sacramento, California – State Senator Anthony J. Portantino’s (D–La Cañada Flintridge) was reappointed to Chair the State Senate Appropriations Committee by State Senate Pro Tem Toni Atkins’ (D – San Diego).  The Appropriations Committee hears roughly two thirds of all Senate and Assembly bills introduced each year, giving it significant oversight over legislative proposals that have an expenditure.

With Covid-19 greatly impacting the state’s finances, this committee will take on greater significance during this session.  I am looking forward to a busy year and I am excited to help make sure California comes out of this pandemic stronger than ever.”

In addition to Chairing the Appropriations Committee, Senator Portantino was also appointed to the Banking and Financial Institutions, Governmental Organization, Insurance, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committees.
