In January, Assemblyman Chris Holden (D-Pasadena), introduced AB 29, which would delete the I-710 extension area from the state highway code. State Sen. Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada) introduced SB 7, which would prevent a surface road or freeway tunnel from ever being built in the I-710 extension corridor.

Both bills passed their respective chambers in May, and have until Sept. 13 to be passed by the other chamber.

Two portions of channelized waterways within urbanized Southern California will receive more than $4 million from the 2019-20 state budget adopted Thursday to restore natural features by removing decades-old concrete barriers.

The city of Glendale will receive $800,000 to help with ongoing improvements of the Los Angeles River. Also, the Lower Arroyo Seco, an upper tributary to the L.A. River, has been allotted $3.5 million for restoration, announced state Sen. Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge.

Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) is pleased that the State Senate passed the 2019–2020 balanced, on time and fiscally responsible state budget, today.  He also celebrated two important funding proposals he initiated through SB 217 and SB 568 which were included in the budget.
