COVID Update
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Together, our District is doing its part to social distance and combat the Covid 19 Virus. Our healthcare workers deserve our respect, support and appreciation as they continue to show their dedication to ensuring our healthcare infrastructure is working under extremely difficult circumstances.
The workforce throughout all essential, public and private services is doing a herculean effort to keep us safe, informed and fed. To aide their efforts, if you don't need to be out, please stay home so collectively we can flatten the spread of the virus.
Over the last several days, the State of California has established a statewide moratorium on evictions and the Department of Motor Vehicle field offices have closed temporarily.
DMV Field Offices Closed:
Although online services and a new virtual field office will be established in the coming days, actual physical DMV field offices closed effective March 27, 2020. The formal announcement can be found here.
Moratorium on Evictions:
Also on Friday, March 27, 2020 Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order establishing a statewide ban on evictions. The executive order can be found here.
Several municipalities and the county have adopted their own tenant protections which you should review. Governor Newsom has been monitoring this crisis very closely and has been issuing Executive Orders on issues and topics as necessary to keep California functioning. I have every confidence that he will continue to adapt and shepherd California's public policy as the situation evolves. I'm proud to be a Californian under his leadership which has set the national standard for a steady hand.
A complete list of all of the Governor's Executive Orders can be found here. There is also a dedicated up to moment Covid 19 webpage which can be found here.
As a community we can and will get through these tough times. I want to thank you and your family for the sacrifices you are making. From my family to yours, please continue to take this situation seriously, safely and calmly as we are all in this together.
With all of my love and labor at your service,
