A resolution authored by state Sen. Anthony Portantino to name a segment of the 134 Freeway between Eagle Rock and Pasadena after President Barack Obama advanced one step closer to becoming official this week.

The state Senate approved the resolution on Monday by a vote of 35-1. Previously, it had been adopted by the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The state Senate voted on Monday to rename a portion of the freeway that runs between Pasadena and Glendale in honor of former President Obama.

The proposal, which passed on a bipartisan vote of 34 to 1, now heads to the state Assembly.

Sacramento, CA – Today, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), Chair of Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee No. 1 on Education, reacted to Governor Brown’s May revised budget plan, which now includes several of Senator Portantino’s key budget priorities.

 

“Although there will be a lot of haggling over the next month as we continue to craft the final budget, I am appreciative of Governor Brown’s response to several of my budget priorities thus far,” commented Portantino.
