Eaton Fire Community Meeting TODAY, FEMA Assistance & Other Key Resources

 

Dear Neighbor, 

We want to keep you informed about the Eaton Fire and the resources that are available to help residents. Thanks to our heroic firefighters, we are now at 27% containment on the fire.

Eaton Fire officials will host a community meeting TODAY to provide an update on the current fire situation, address questions, and discuss recovery. The meeting will be held in-person and streamed live on YouTube. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Please submit your questions in advance via email at 2025.eaton@firenet.gov.

FEMA Assistance Workshops

Seven Los Angeles County Library Sites are also hosting FEMA staff to assist and allow residents affected by the wildfires to submit applications for disaster relief. The following libraries will be open, today, Sunday, January 12 through Monday, January 13, from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

Insurance Support Workshop in Pasadena

Our State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara will be bringing a team to Pasadena City College to assist our residents in getting help, such as understanding their insurance policies, being aware of the resources available during the rebuilding and recovery process, and answering their insurance-related questions. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their insurance policy, declaration page, and any relevant correspondence related to their concerns. Those who want to make a one-on-one appointment should contact CDI's Hotline at 1-800-927-4357.

DMV Suspends Fees

For qualifying individuals impacted by the Eaton, Palisades, Hurst, Woodley, and Linda fires, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has waived the fees for those who have lost their driver’s license, ID card, vehicle registration, or title. Sticker replacements can now be requested at no cost. Deadlines for vehicle registrations and title transfers are extended, and no late penalties will be applied during this period. SBA Disaster Assistance

The SBA is providing disaster assistance to homeowners, renters, nonprofits, and businesses of all sizes impacted by the wildfires and straight-line winds in California. For more information visit, Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Assistance.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online for a disaster loan. Please call 800‐659‐2955 or schedule an in-person appointment if you have any questions.

 

Supportive Space for Youth and Teens 

To support families impacted by the Eaton fire, LA County Parks Care Camps will provide youth and teens with a supportive space for fun and recreation including music, arts and crafts, sports activities and field trips to the LA County Natural History Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Dodger Stadium, & more. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided daily; teens will also get supper. Open Monday, January 13 to January 31, 2025.
