Senator Sasha Renée Pérez issues statement on Southern California Edison’s creation of a Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program for Eaton Fire victims

SACRAMENTO – Senator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Pasadena) has issued the following statement on Southern California Edison’s announcement of the creation of the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program for people impacted by the Eaton Fire:

“Whether through the courts or a direct claims process, Eaton Fire victims deserve full and fair compensation for their suffering and losses. In creating this program, Southern California Edison is taking some responsibility for the community’s ongoing pain even as the exact cause of the Eaton Fire is being investigated.

“The priority for me is ensuring my constituents, who are still struggling from this unimaginable tragedy, are treated fairly and given the opportunity to heal. I encourage all Eaton Fire victims to educate themselves about the details of this program including seeking professional legal advice to ensure they are making an informed decision.

“Full and fair compensation is critical to the recovery and rebuilding process. Anything less would not be justice.”
