Senator Pérez issues statement on investigation into financial discrimination against Armenian community

SACRAMENTOSenator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Pasadena) issued the following statement on the Los Angeles Civil Rights Department’s recently launched investigation into claims of financial discrimination against Armenian Americans:

“As a proud representative of the 25th Senate District, home to the largest concentration of Armenian Americans in the state, I am disgusted by these claims of financial discrimination. Discrimination in any form is wrong, but discrimination based on ethnicity or national origin is especially dangerous. All Californians deserve to be treated fairly when accessing banks and financial institutions.

“I fully support the Los Angeles Civil Rights Department’s investigation into these claims of financial discrimination, and encourage my constituents of Armenian descent to report all possible instances of financial discrimination.

“We will not tolerate any systemic discrimination and will use every tool at our disposal to identify and eliminate it.”
