Important Information: Property Tax Deadline Relief

Dear Neighbor –

Many in our community continue facing serious challenges following the Eaton Fire, especially with ongoing insurance disputes, rebuilding delays, and displacement. As a result, meeting the April 30 property tax deadline has become difficult for many homeowners.

My office has been actively working with the Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector to ensure relief is available. If you are unable to pay your property taxes by the April 30 deadline due to impacts resulting from the Eaton Fire, you may submit a Penalty Cancellation Request, which allows you to ask that late penalties be waived if your payment is delayed for up to four years, or until 2030.

Please have your Assessor’s Identification Number (AIN) ready. This is the ten-digit number assigned by the Office of the Assessor to each piece of real property in Los Angeles County.

You can submit your request online by clicking on the following topic:

Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis under state law, and a separate request must be submitted for each property tax bill you are unable to pay. The County has indicated that residents may seek relief by explaining their wildfire-related circumstances. If you need help completing the request, the Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector has assigned dedicated staff to assist taxpayers through this process.

You can also contact my office if you have any questions at (626) 304-1086.

As always, I am grateful for the support and engagement of my constituents! If you need assistance with state government services, please contact my office or visit my Senate website at: sd25.senate.ca.gov.
