Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It's wonderful to be back in Sacramento. I'm very pleased to report that I've been appointed to Chair the Senate Education Budget Subcommittee. As many of you will recall, Jack Scott chaired this committee while he was in the Senate. It is a great place for me to focus on Community College issues and other public education priorities that I am passionate about and that our district holds dear.

I've heard from many friends and neighbors who were unable to make the trip to Sacramento for my swearing in ceremony but wanted to share in the moment which we all worked so hard to make happen. So let's do it again so everyone can be part of it!

Please join me on Sunday, February 26th for a Community Swearing In Ceremony. Our terrific State Controller, Betty Yee, will be administering the Oath of Office and we will be celebrating with music, food and refreshments! We will start the festivities at 12 pm with the formal ceremony starting at 1:00 pm on the beautiful campus of Glendale Community College. There will be plenty of free parking in the GCC structure right off the 2 Freeway on Mountain Avenue.
