Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Here's what is happening in District 25 during February!
Student Art Contest
I'm offering high school art classes the opportunity to win the chance to paint a mural in the wall of my Glendale District Conference room. I was inspired by the mural at the Burbank City Hall and thought I could engage young artists in their local civic office by offering them a lasting art opportunity. Art classes should submit their interpretation of the theme "California Dreamin': Hopes, Dreams, and Diversity Across the 25th Senate District" to my district office by March 15, 2018. The wall dimension is 175" by 105". My district staff will pick the winner and the chosen students will paint the mural during the summer break. Please contact the district office with any questions at 818-409-0400. Find out more.
Cash for College
I am Co-Sponsoring a Cash for College Workshop with Pasadena City College on Saturday, February 10 2018. The event is meant to help students learn about the financial aid process and there will be assistance to complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA and CA DREAM Act applications. Register here or call (626) 585-7401.
Pasadena Humane Society Needs Your Help
There are 54 rescued cats which range from 6 months to 5-years-old in Pasadena and are in desperate need of a loving home. The Humane Society was offering some relief of charges for the first few days of adoption. I don't know if they are continuing that program but I do know that anyone looking for a kitty might want to contact them to find out. The Humane Society is located at 361 S. Raymond Avenue in Pasadena. Get more information.
As your representative, please feel free to contact me for information on any of the events or to express your issues or concerns. You can reach me on my website or call my office at 818-409-0400.
Warmly,
Sen. Anthony J. Portantino |
