Sheri Bonner has been a part of the Planned Parenthood family for over 25 years and has served as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley since 2004. Under Sheri’s leadership, PPPSGV has grown from a single health center in Pasadena into a robust organization with four health centers across the San Gabriel Valley that see 55,000 visits annually. Prior to this position, she was the Chief Administrative Officer at the Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, which represents San Diego and Riverside Counties.
Since coming to Pasadena in 2004, Sheri has dedicated her work to bettering the 24 communities that PPPSGV serves by expanding access to high quality sexual and reproductive health care and education to women, men and young people. “One health center for over one million people was not enough,” she said. Today, she is proud that PPPSGV is able to provide so many life changing services to people. “People who come to PPPSGV are treated fairly and respectfully, without judgment. They are able to walk out of our health centers and live their lives.” Most recently, Planned Parenthood Advocates Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley –
an independent, non-partisan advocacy and political organization – was formed under Sheri’s leadership to protect access to women’s health care and the mission and operations of PPPSGV. She now serves as the organization’s President.
Sheri is active and engaged in the communities around the San Gabriel Valley, and her exemplary leadership is characterized by her strong collaborations with many local organizations. She currently serves on community benefits committees for several hospitals, and is also a member and past trustee of the Pasadena Rotary.
In addition to her local accomplishments, Sheri has received numerous awards including the National Planned Parenthood Ruth Green Award and the Woman of the Year Award bestowed by Congresswoman Judy Chu. She recently completed a two year term as Chair of the Affiliate Chief Executives Council, a national organization comprised of Planned Parenthood CEOs from across the country, and served on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She currently serves on the Board of the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, which leads state-wide public policy and advocacy work.
She currently resides in Pasadena with her husband Mark, their son Michael, and their family dog, Oscar.
