Senator Portantino Secures Funding for Glendora Streetlight Retrofit

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request for the City of Glendora was approved by the Legislature.  The 2021-2022 State Budget will include a one-time allocation of $1.5 million for the City of Glendora to retrofit historic streetlights.

“I am excited to be able to assist with the cost of retrofitting Glendora’s historic streetlights,” stated Senator Portantino. “Glendora has many local priorities that make demands on its city budget.  Having the state offset the cost of the streetlights will allow the Mayor and City Council to carry out these important projects with local dollars. The new streetlights will reenergize the city and preserve the character of Glendora for future generations,” he added.

Between 1911 and 1914, 107 Heritage Lampposts were installed in and around Glendora Village. These lampposts stand as a monument to Glendora’s history and heritage. In 2004, the lampposts were decommissioned due to safety concerns.
