Pasadena Now: State Senate Passes Portantino's Gun Bill Which Requires Purchasers to Be 21, Stops Buying More than One Gun in 30 Day Period

The California state Senate has passed SB 1100, authored by Pasadena-area state Sen. Anthony J. Portantino, which would prohibit anyone from purchasing more than one firearm within a 30-day period in the state.

The bill also increases the age requirement for purchasing all firearms to 21 years.

SB 1100 intends to amend certain sections of the Penal Code relating to firearms. Previously, the ban on purchasing more than one firearm within the 30-day period applied only to handguns. Portantino’s bill expands the coverage to all types of firearms.
