Portantino’s Striking Worker Bill Goes to Governor

Sacramento, CA – Today, Senate Bill 799, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), passed the Senate and is headed to the Governor.  The bill seeks to provide unemployment insurance benefits for striking workers. SB 799 is sponsored by the California Labor Federation and is jointly authored by Senator Maria Elena Durazo and Assemblymember Chris Holden.

Portantino’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Bill Goes to Governor

Sacramento, California – Senate Bills 234, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), passed the Legislature and is headed to the Governor’s desk. The measure addresses the rise in opioid-related deaths by making opioid antagonists such as Narcan readily available in places accessed by high-risk age groups. Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana) is a joint author of SB 234

Portantino’s Comprehensive Gun Safety Bill Heads to Governor

Sacramento, CA – Senate Bill 368, authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), passed the Senate and is headed to the Governor’s desk. The bill is a commonsense gun safety effort that would expand and strengthen firearm ownership prohibition laws and create additional responsibilities for commercial gun stores.
