Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request to create and fund a regional affordable housing trust between the cities of Pasadena, Burbank, and Glendale was approved.  The 2022-2023 State Budget will allocate $23 million to help finance affordable housing projects in the three cities through the joint powers authority (JPA) outlined in Senator Portantino’s SB 1177.

Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request of $2.5 million for the National Animation Museum was approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The funds will help develop a virtual and physical museum to provide educational experiences for students and professionals and preserve California’s rich animation history.

Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) announced today that his budget request of $2 million to the City of Glendale for the restoration of the landmark Casey Stengel Baseball Field was approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The funds will provide critical improvements to the historic field that has served Glendale families and youth for decades.

Sacramento, CA - Senate Bill 906, a bill authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) that prioritizes student and campus safety, passed the Assembly Floor today with bipartisan support and is headed to the Governor’s desk for signature.  By promoting safe at-home storage of firearms and quick, robust investigations of imminent violent school threats, SB 906 aims to prevent tragic shootings on our campuses.  Recent tragic shootings across the country have highlighted the need for prudent and immediate public safety requirements on campuses.  The bill is part of a slate of gun control measures being fast tracked by the Legislature in collaboration with Governor Newsom.
