The measure addresses the rise in opioid-related deaths by making opioid antagonists such as Narcan readily available in places accessed by high-risk age groups. Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana) is a joint author of SB 234

The bill is a commonsense gun safety effort that would expand and strengthen firearm ownership prohibition laws and create additional responsibilities for commercial gun stores.

Sacramento, CA – Senate Bill 257, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), addresses a significant flaw in women’s healthcare insurance coverage. The bill mandates that a doctor prescribed diagnostic imaging following an abnormal mammography is covered by insurance. SB 257 was approved by the Senate and sent to the Governor for signature today.

Sacramento, CA – Senate Bill 2, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), passed the Senate and is headed to the Governor’s desk. The bill would implement significant improvements to strengthen California’s existing concealed-carry weapon (CCW) laws. SB 2 is sponsored by Governor Newsom and Attorney General Bonta - all of whom have worked collaboratively to craft California’s response to the recent Supreme Court ruling that made it easier for citizens to acquire CCWs.
