Los Angeles Times: In a rare move, corporate America presses for gun-control restrictions 'to take a stand'

"This is an issue that's not going away." So says Edward Stack, the chief executive of Dick's Sporting Goods Inc., whose retail chain is among the private-sector firms tightening their gun-control restrictions — and pressing for such curbs nationwide — in the absence of similar action by Congress.

There is a bill in California, authored by state Sen. Anthony Portantino (D-La Canada Flintridge), that would lift the gun-buying age to 21 and would ban someone from making more than one firearm purchase within a 30-day period.

"While Washington continues to be unable to pass prudent gun legislation, it is imperative that California steps up," Portantino said in a statement.
