Senator Portantino Welcomes Teacher of the Year Finalist Mandy R. Redfern, Ph.D to the State Capitol
Sacramento, California- Senator Anthony J. Portantino had the honor to welcome Mandy R. Redfern, Ph.D., a 2018 California Teacher of the Year Finalist to the California State Senate. Redfern and a slate of outstanding teachers were recognized at a reception in the Capitol on Monday night.
“Mandy is just an awesome teacher and it was such an honor to see her in Sacramento receiving this recognition. Her hard work and dedication to our district as well as her patience and dedication with helping educate my two daughters, Sofia and Bella makes this recognition even more special,” commented Senator Portantino.
Redfern has dedicated herself to the La Caňada Unified School District for nearly two decades. She was in Sacramento as one of twelve finalists for teacher of the year for the entire state of California. The teacher of the year recognition is sponsored by the California Department of Education.
