Senator Portantino Reacts to UC’s Tuition/Fee Announcement
Sacramento, CA – This morning, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D - La Cañada Flintridge), Chair of Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee No. 1 on Education issued the following statement:
"The University of California’s recent announcement that it is time to raise tuition is completely premature. The Governor has yet to release his proposed budget, nor have any budget conversations taken place in the Legislature. As a proud parent of a student who went to UC Santa Barbara I look forward to exploring the ways we can maintain the high quality of the system while keeping it affordable.”
