Sacramento, CA –Senate Bill 883, jointly authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) and Senator Richard D. Roth (D – Riverside), passed the Assembly floor and is headed to the Governor’s desk for signature.  The measure extends the sunset date on the Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program (UCBCP) for an additional five years

Sacramento, CA – Today, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 1177, authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), into law. SB 1177 creates a regional affordable housing trust between the cities of Pasadena, Burbank, and Glendale. In June, the Senator announced that his budget request to create and fund the regional affordable housing trust had been approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget, allocating $23 million to help finance affordable housing projects created by SB 1177.

Portantino (D – Burbank) honored Burbank’s Blast From the Past as the Small Business of the Year for the 25th State Senate District.  Store manager Duncan Bradley flew to Sacramento to attend the award ceremony to represent the family owned and operated business.

Glendale, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank), the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), and the Los Angeles Zoo were joined by Mayor Eric Garcetti today during a press conference to celebrate the allocation of $2.2 million from the 2022-2023 State Budget to support Los Angeles Zoo biodiversity and renovation projects.  The projects are set to benefit the protection of endangered species and the development of more accessible and inclusive facilities.  The funding was a result of a Portantino budget request on behalf of the Zoo.
